It is more difficult for Moldova to join the European Union (EU) than it was for Romania, because it has fewer advantages. This opinion was expressed by MEP Dragos Tudorake, reports the publication Hotnews.
"We had an advantage, including in the context of European openness to the accession of Central and Eastern European countries, which Moldova does not have now, or at least not in a comparable proportion," the politician noted. In this regard, he called for all possible efforts to create the same conditions for Chisinau.
According to Tudorake, the decision on Moldova's obtaining the status of a candidate for EU membership was made very quickly. He explained that this is due to the desire to facilitate the accession process for the republic. "We thought here geopolitically and thought that Moldova is going through such a moment together with Ukraine and it needs to be helped to get through it as easily as possible, with all the difficulties that it has," the MEP said.
