Moscow hopes that the course for the development of cooperation between Brazil and Russia will continue after the victory of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the presidential elections. This is how the Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to the results of the vote, a statement was published on the department's website.
The ministry noted the contribution of the politician to the development of cooperation between states. "We hope that the course of strengthening multifaceted bilateral cooperation and Russian-Brazilian cooperation in the UN, BRICS, the Group of Twenty and other multilateral platforms will continue. We are ready for this," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Earlier it became known that Russian leader Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to Lula da Silva on the occasion of his victory in the Brazilian presidential election, the Kremlin's press service reports. He pointed out that the results of the vote confirmed the high political authority of the politician, and also expressed hope for further development of Russian-Brazilian cooperation.
