Only the realization of the goals and objectives of the special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine will return their rights to Russian speakers. This is stated in the comments of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, published on the website of the Foreign Ministry.

Commenting on the adoption of a new law on national minorities in Ukraine, the diplomat noted that "the SVO is able to return to Russian people and representatives of other nationalities in Ukraine their rights to speak freely in their native language, receive education in it, preserve their historical memory and honor their heroes, restore the rule of law and respect for human rights in Ukraine."

According to Zakharova, Ukrainian lawmakers "cynically mock" the rights of national minorities in violation of all existing obligations of this country within the framework of specialized organizations.

The Ukrainian Law on National Minorities, among other things, prohibits the "popularization and propaganda" of Russia and the actions of its statesmen and structures that create a "positive image." At the same time, representatives of national minorities in Ukraine have the right to self-identification, freedom of public associations, peaceful assembly, thought, speech, conscience and religion. In addition, they are promised the right to participate in political, economic and social life, as well as the preservation of cultural identity.
