The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, criticized the law on national minorities adopted in Ukraine. Her statement was published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
The diplomat called the law a manifestation of Nazism, stressing that international and European human rights organizations ignore discrimination against Russian-speaking people. "We consider it our duty to draw the attention of the international community to the cynical mockery of Ukrainian legislators over the rights of national minorities in violation of all existing obligations of this country within the framework of specialized organizations," she said. According to Zakharova, only the achievement of the goals and objectives of the special operation will help to eradicate Russophobia.
Earlier, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that a special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine is able to return to Russian-speaking people their rights to speak freely in their native language. In addition, Zakharova pointed out, "SVO is able to restore the rule of law and respect for human rights in Ukraine."
The law on National Minorities was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on December 13. In particular, the document establishes a ban on the "popularization and propaganda" of Russia and the actions of its statesmen and structures that create a "positive image".
